Our Science Education Mission Statement

Our primary science education mission is the science education of our Academy students. Beyond that we hope to bring science education and enrichment to home-school students in Kodiak, students from the public schools, and students from the rural schools around Alaska. Our work focuses on engaging students directly with the beauty and order of the creation through hands-on experiments and projects. Our hope is that we can enthuse students about science, helping them to see meaning, beauty, and order in the world around them – and the world inside them.  We attempt to teach science holistically in connection with other subjects such as mathmatics, philosophy, history, and music. By teaching in this way, we are working against the disconnection and suicidal tendencies of modern youth, and their subsequent addiction to distraction, drugs, sex, etc. The goal of our educational work is, therefore, to help students have a deeper respect and love of life itself, and to become more full and connected human beings.
